Battery Tips for the Changing Season

The winter months can take a toll on your car's battery. Before temperatures drop, have Prestige Family of Dealerships check your battery to ensure that it has a good charge. If it's weak, then consider getting it replaced so that you're not left with a dead battery one morning.

Try to keep your car covered as much as possible in the winter. A carport or a garage will help, but if you have a blanket or a tarp to put over the hood, then this can help keep your battery from getting too cold while your car is parked outside.

Before heading out, let your car run for a few minutes without the radio or lights on so that the battery can get charged by the alternator. This will prevent excessive draining of your battery so that the heat does come on a bit faster while you're driving, making it comfortable inside the car.
